Endoscopy

Dr Simon Ho offers both Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy as a certified endoscopist with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Gastroscopy is commonly performed to assess symptoms including reflux, upper abdominal pain, nausea, difficulty swallowing, iron deficiency anaemia, and suspected stomach or oesophageal pathology. It is also used to evaluate ulcers, gastritis, coeliac disease, and Barrett’s oesophagus.

Colonoscopy allows detailed examination of the large bowel and is frequently indicated for altered bowel habit, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, iron deficiency anaemia, inflammatory bowel disease assessment, and surveillance following previous polyps or bowel cancer.

Colonoscopy is also an important component of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, where a positive screening stool test requires further evaluation to exclude polyps or bowel cancer. Early detection significantly improves outcomes, and colonoscopy enables both diagnosis and removal of precancerous polyps during the same procedure.

All procedures are performed with a strong emphasis on patient comfort, safety, and clear communication before and after the investigation.
