Gallstones
Gallstones are very common, affecting up to 20% of adults in some parts of the world.
Having gallstones does not automatically mean treatment is required. In fact, only around 10% of people with gallstones develop symptoms. When symptoms do occur, the most common is right upper abdominal pain or discomfort, often triggered or worsened by fatty meals. This pain may sometimes be associated with nausea or bloating.
If you have been diagnosed with gallstones and are experiencing symptoms, it is important to see your local doctor or obtain a referral to a surgeon to discuss what this means for you and the available treatment options.
Dr Simon Ho has extensive experience in keyhole (laparoscopic) gallbladder surgery for gallstone disease. He is also proficient in managing stones that migrate from the gallbladder into the bile ducts, including transcystic bile duct exploration and stone extraction, where appropriate.
